In her essay, "Chinese Exclusion Example," Erika Lee argues that the significance of the Chinese Exclusion Act goes beyond it being the first law to restrict a group of immigrants based on race, nationality, and class. The Chinese Exclusion Act also brought 3 major changes to American culture and society. Which of the following is NOT one of those changes?
Group of answer choices
a model by which to exclude later immigrants based on their desirability and whiteness
a gate-keeping ideology
a recognition that immigrant labor was critical to American industrialization and the growth of the U.S. economy
the government procedures and machinery to control immigrants and foreign residents already in America
The American "gatekeeping" concept was created as a result of Chinese isolation. In essence, some immigrant groups were welcome in the United States while others were not. A particular immigrant group's access to the country was frequently decided exclusively on the basis of race.
What does the Chinese Exclusion Act mean? The Chinese Exclusion Act was a federal statute that forbade the immigration of any Chinese laborers for ten years and was signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882. Merchants, instructors, pupils, road warriors, and diplomats were not covered by the law.
The Chinese Exclusion Act was the only law ever enacted to bar all members of a particular ethnic or national group from emigrating to the United States, building on the earlier Page Act of 1875, which prohibited Chinese women from doing so.

Watch ROAM: Rider of Another Mortal and write a summary and review. What it was about and
whether or not you liked it it and why or why not.
"Mortal" begins by defining its title. "A man" corresponding to the noun entry in Merriam-Webster's Dictionary appears on the screen. Since we are reading my favorite book, I should mention some other adjective definitions of the word. All but one of these are true of our main character, Eric (Nat Wolff). Oddly enough, it's on-screen that describes him as a human being. What Eric is, or rather who he is, is spoiler-worthy. If you catch a cold, watch a movie and come back.
All you need to know is that this slow-moving sci-fi origin story was written by Norwegian co-writer/director Andre Orvredal. Let's talk about the American main character, Eric. He is first seen with severe burns to his leg. A mysterious fire breaks out around him, so he robs it outdoors alone. And when he's harassed by teenage troublemakers on the street, he warns their leaders, "If you touch me again, you'll get burned." Describing the death as an "accident", seemed quite intentional to me: Kid grabs Eric, Eric frowns, and Kid buys the farm.
Instead of frying the witness, Eric escaped and was subsequently arrested for murder. While he awaits extradition to the United States, the police bring in a psychologist named Christine (Even Ackerley) to have Eric explain why everyone around him has suddenly become moody. It's no spoiler that Christine is only introduced to be the clichéd love interest of the male hero in this type of movie - no one calls Drew Barrymore his Firestarter shrink - Eric from Mortal It emits sparks, electricity, and a loud, roaring flame. The only place he can't create a spark is between these two characters of his. The lack of even platonic chemistry makes Christine's desperate decision to save Eric not only pointless but annoying.
Meanwhile, a rogue US government agent named Hathaway (Priyanka Bose) gives the police an ominous warning about Eric. It turns out that the victim of a deadly farm fire was the relative Eric was looking for when he began tracing his ancestral roots. These roots have something to do with Eric's powers. His ancestry can be traced back to mythology. This follows when Eric tells Christine that he sees a tree when his powers are activated...and not the happy little tree Bob Ross once pictured. A giant tree resembling Yggdrasil. Eric also has the ability to control the weather and create severe thunderstorms at will.
"Mortal" gets its clue when a small child squeaks on the radio that a certain Norse god has returned after a second extreme meteorological upset to help Erik avoid capture. indicates
"Did she call me Thor?" Erich asks. Christine turns off the radio. We all know Thor is Chris Hemsworth and Mickey Mouse stuff, so that makes no sense. The theory behind the scenes is far more interesting than the realization. I read "Mortal" as Orvredal's attempt to bring the mythical heroes of his hometown a little closer to their true origins by trying to control them a little from the often crude portrayals of American comics. You can't even blame him for trying to make franchise-based money.
The film sets the stage for a sequel by ending in the middle of the story. You can blame ovredal for the poor pacing and script. Both Wolfe and Ackerley read their lines with apathy, and the film's attempts to develop its characters were utterly futile.
To make matters worse, "Mortal" is yet another disastrous entry of his into the overly serious superhero genre, with brooding and brown cinematography giving deceptive significance to the proceedings. increase. Without the admittedly funny and cheesy CGI turned on, Wolff's performance is boring and lifeless, so at least this one has some great views of Norway.
She doesn't relate to characters that go back to a time when women were used as motives for revenge. Christine, like her agent Her Hathaway, appears as an impulsive, unwise decision-making woman who serves no purpose other than to make the tortured men look good in front of her. Akerley gets this movie's R rating by doing something the filmmakers think is not only outdated now, but she knows it's outrageous, and she could do better in Mortal 2. may
