If a sample has an initial mass of 4.48 grams and undergoes decay until it has a mass of 0.140 grams, then option b 3 half-lifes passed
The half-life of a substance is the amount of time it takes for half of the initial sample to decay. For cobalt-60, the half-life is 5.26 years. This means that if we start with 4.48 grams of cobalt-60, half of that (2.24 grams) will remain after 5.26 years.
The remaining 2.24 grams will then decay until half of that (1.12 grams) remains after another 5.26 years. Continuing this pattern, we can see that after 3 half-lives (15.78 years), we will be left with 0.140 grams of cobalt-60. Therefore, the sample underwent decay for 3 half-lives.
Half-life, in chemistry, is the time required for half of the original number of radioactive atoms in a sample to decay. The half-life of a radioactive substance is a measure of the stability of the nucleus of the atom.

Neutralization of 1 liter of a solution containing 1,4 g of
KOH requires 50 cm³of an acid solution. Calculate the
normality of the acid solution.
(Answer: 0,53 n.) how?
The normality of the acid solution is 0.53N.
What is Neutralization? The process by which an acid and a base neutralize one another. As a result of their reaction, an acid and a base produce heat as well as salt and water.
To calculate the normality of the acid solution, you need to know the number of moles of acid used in the neutralization reaction. Since the volume of the acid solution is given in cm³ and the molarity (normality) is in moles per liter, you will first need to convert the volume to liters.
1 cm³ = 0.001 liters
So, 50 cm³ = 0.05 liters
To find the number of moles of acid used, divide the volume in liters by the molarity:
moles acid = volume acid/molarity acid
Next, you can use the balanced equation for the neutralization reaction between KOH and the acid to find the number of moles of KOH that reacted.
1 mole KOH = 1 mole H+
The number of moles of KOH is 1.4/56.11
moles acid = volume acid / molarity acid = 0.05 / (1.4/56.11)
molarity acid = 0.05 / (1.4/56.11) = 0.53 n.

many pounds of gold were in the sample?
According to the question, 0.55 lb many pounds of gold were in the sample of heat to melt it from room temperature.
What is heat?
Heat is the transfer of energy from one object to another due to the temperature difference between them. Heat is the form of energy that is transferred between two objects with different temperatures. Heat moves from the object with the higher temperature to the object with the lower temperature. Heat is also created when an object does work, such as friction or compression. Heat transfer can happen through conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction occurs when two objects of different temperatures are in direct contact with each other.
The specific heat of gold is 0.128 J/g°C.
3.25 x 104 J = (3.25 x 104 J) / (0.128 J/g°C x 841.2°C)

Given the reaction: H2 + O2 = HOH How many grams of hydrogen gas are needed to produce 11.2 moles of water vapor?
Answer: 22.6g H2
Explanation:
You need to set up dimensional analysis starting with 11.2moles of H2O (the same as HOH).
First, you need to balance the equation. When balanced, it is:
2H2(g) + O2(g) --> 2H2O(g)
Starting with moles of H2O, you need to go from moles of H2O to moles of H2. To do so, you need to use the mole ratio that you can figure out from the balanced equation. In this case it will be 2mol H2/2mol H2O.
Then just convert to grams using the molar mass of H2 which is 2.016grams.
11.2 mol H2O x (2 mol H2 / 2 mol H2O) x (2.016g H2 / 1 mol H2) = 22.6g H2
When that equation is set up, all units except for grams of H2 will cancel and you'll be able to multiply across.

hydrogen reacts with 32g of oxygen to produce 34g of hydrogen peroxide . how many grams of reactants were reacted
Answer: 32g of oxygen and 4g of hydrogen were reacted in total.
Explanation:
To find out how many grams of reactants were reacted, we need to use the balanced equation of the reaction. The equation for the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to produce hydrogen peroxide is:
2H2 + O2 --> 2H2O2
From the equation, we know that the reaction involves 2 moles of hydrogen and 1 mole of oxygen. We can use the balanced equation to determine the stoichiometry of the reaction, which tells us the relative number of moles of each reactant and product.
We know that 32g of oxygen was reacted, and since 1 mole of oxygen is equal to 16g, we can calculate the number of moles of oxygen by:
32g / 16g = 2 moles
We know that 2 moles of hydrogen are required for every mole of oxygen. so the number of moles of hydrogen is also 2 moles.
We know that 1 mole of hydrogen is equal to 2g, so we can calculate the number of grams of hydrogen by:
2 moles x 2g = 4g
Therefore, 32g of oxygen and 4g of hydrogen were reacted in total.

The total number of moles of electrons lost by Mg(s) when 2.0 moles of electrons are gained by Ni2+(ag) is also 2.0 moles of electrons.
How to find the number of moles? This is because in a chemical equation, the number of moles of electrons gained by the reducing agent (in this case Ni2+) is equal to the number of moles of electrons lost by the oxidizing agent (in this case Mg(s)).
In this redox reaction, Mg is being oxidized because it loses electrons and Ni is being reduced because it gains electrons. The oxidation and reduction process are occurring simultaneously, so the number of electrons lost by Mg(s) is equal to the number of electrons gained by Ni2+(ag).

when burning magnesium is lowered in a gas jar full of carbon 4 oxide it continued to burn explain
When burning magnesium is lowered in a gas jar full of carbon dioxide, the burning process continues because the carbon dioxide acts as an oxidizing agent.
What is a combustion reaction?A combustion reaction is a type of chemical reaction that occurs when a fuel, such as a hydrocarbon, reacts with an oxidizing agent, such as oxygen, to produce heat and light in the form of a flame. The basic equation for a combustion reaction is:
Fuel + Oxidant → Heat + Light + Products
In the case of burning magnesium, the fuel is magnesium and the oxidant is carbon dioxide. The products of the reaction are magnesium oxide and carbon dioxide. Combustion reactions are exothermic, meaning they release energy in the form of heat.
This means that the carbon dioxide provides the oxygen necessary for the combustion reaction to continue, allowing the magnesium to continue burning. Additionally, the carbon dioxide also helps to extinguish the flame by removing the heat and the oxygen from the combustion zone.

How are atoms of sodium and chlorine similar and different from one another?
Answer:
Explanation:
Atoms of sodium and chlorine are both elements, meaning they are made up of only one type of atom. Both have an atomic number of 11, which means they have 11 protons in their nucleus, but the number of neutrons and electrons differ. Sodium has 12 neutrons and 11 electrons, while chlorine has 17 neutrons and 17 electrons.
Atoms of sodium and chlorine are also both reactive, meaning they form chemical bonds with other elements. However, sodium is more reactive than chlorine, which is why it often forms compounds with other elements, such as sodium chloride (NaCl).
Atoms of sodium and chlorine are also similar in that they both have the same number of electrons in their outer shells. This means they can both form two covalent bonds with other elements. However, because the number of electrons and neutrons in each atom is different, the strength of the bonds they form will differ.
Overall, atoms of sodium and chlorine are similar in that they both have 11 protons and can form two covalent bonds, but they differ in their number of neutrons and electrons, which affects the strength of the bonds they form and their reactivity.
mass of N in 0.464g of N2H4
To find the mass of Nitrogen (N) in 0.464 grams of N2H4 (hydrazine), we need to use the molar mass of N2H4 and the proportion of Nitrogen in the compound.
First, the molar mass of N2H4 is (14.01 + 2(14.01) + 4(1.01)) = 32.05 g/mol.
Next, we know that the proportion of Nitrogen in N2H4 is 2 moles of Nitrogen to 1 mole of N2H4, or 2/1.
So, to find the mass of Nitrogen in 0.464 grams of N2H4, we can use the following formula:
Mass of Nitrogen = (mass of N2H4) x (proportion of Nitrogen) / (molar mass of N2H4)
Plugging in the values:
Mass of Nitrogen = (0.464 g) x (2/1) / (32.05 g/mol)
Mass of Nitrogen = 0.028 grams
Therefore, the mass of Nitrogen in 0.464 grams of N2H4 is 0.028 grams.
Glucose (C6H12O6) is burned in the human body for energy. Carbon dioxide and water are produced as waste products. How many moles of oxygen are needed to combust 3.12 moles of glucose?
18.72 moles of oxygen are needed to combust 3.12 moles of glucose.
Glucose is a type of sugar that can be represented by the chemical formula C6H12O6.
When glucose is burned in the human body, it combines with oxygen to form carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) as waste products.
The balanced equation for the combustion of glucose is:
C6H12O6 + 6O2 -> 6CO2 + 6H2O
From the equation, we can see that for every 1 mole of glucose, 6 moles of oxygen are needed.
To calculate the number of moles of oxygen needed to combust 3.12 moles of glucose, we can use this relationship;-
3.12 moles of glucose * 6 moles of O2/1 mole of glucose = 18.72 moles of O2
So, 18.72 moles of oxygen are needed to combust 3.12 moles of glucose.

Write the thermochemical equation of the reaction
between CO (g) and hydrogen, as a result of which CH4 (g) and
H₂O (g) are formed. How much heat will be released during this
reaction if 67.2 liters of methane were obtained in terms of
normal conditions?
The thermochemical equation of the reaction is CO (g) + 3H₂ (g) ⇒ CH₄ + H₂O. 48 KJ heat will be released during this reaction if 67.2 liters of methane.
What is thermochemical equation ?A balanced stoichiometric chemical equation that includes the enthalpy change i.e, ΔH is called as thermochemical equation.
At STP,
1 mole of any gas occupies a volume of 22.4 L.
The volume of 67.2 L corresponds to 67.2 / 22.
= 3 moles.
1 mole of CO₂ obtained from 1 mole of methane.
3 moles of CH₄ will be obtained from 3 moles of CO₂.
The molar mass of methane = 16 g/mol.
Then, the mass of 3 moles of methane = 3 × 16
= 48 KJ
Thus,The thermochemical equation of the reaction is CO (g) + 3H₂ (g) ⇒ CH₄ + H₂O. 48 KJ heat will be released during this reaction if 67.2 liters of methane.
