Sutton’s Draft
It is very rare to find a person who changes the way people view the world. Alexander Fleming was one such figure. What we know of today as penicillin, a cure for many infections, did not exist until 1928, when Fleming's brilliant and innovative mind discovered it.

As a young man, Fleming had a keen interest in the field of medicine. In 1906, he began working as a researcher at St. Mary's Hospital in London, England, under the guidance of Almroth Wright, a bacteriologist. During World War I, Fleming served in the Royal Army Medical Corps and worked with wounded soldiers. There, he realized that the liquid antiseptics used to treat wounds severely affected a person's ability to fight off bacterial infections. He believed that wounds should not be treated with antiseptics but rather kept clean and dry. However, his advice mostly went unheard.

In 1918, Fleming returned to St. Mary's as the assistant director of the St. Mary's Inoculation Department. Ten years later, in September 1928, he made a startling discovery related to the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, which can cause harmful infections in humans. Fleming had left the bacteria unattended in a petri dish and noticed that it had developed an unknown mold around it. When he studied the mold, he was surprised to find that it was a type of antibiotic, a substance that can kill bacteria or stop it from growing. He named this discovery penicillin and spread word of its clinical potential to treat bacterial infections. With the help of scientists Howard Florey and Ernst Chain from the University of Oxford, he managed to stabilize and purify penicillin for public use.

The discovery of penicillin revolutionized the medical world and turned Fleming into a hero. In 1943, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and received the knighthood one year later. In 1945, Fleming, Chain, and Florey were awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of penicillin and their contributions to the field of medicine.

In later years, Sir Alexander Fleming wrote numerous papers on bacteriology, chemotherapy, and immunology, which were published in medical and scientific journals all around the world. Fleming died in 1955 in London, but his name and contributions are celebrated to this day.

Answers

My interpretation of "The Story of My Experiments with Truth" is that (option B.) 'In The Story of My Experiments With Truth, Gandhi supports his argument by referencing specific examples.'

Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth, spans his life from infancy to 1921. Swami Anand and other close Gandhi associates insisted on starting it and urged him to give the history of his public campaigns. Gandhi has shared memories of his childhood, child marriage, relationship with his wife and parents, school experiences, study tour to London, attempts to emulate the English gentleman, dietetic experiments, trip to South Africa, encounters with colour prejudice, search for dharma, social work in Africa, return to India, and his patient and consistent work for political awakening and social activities. After discussing the Congress's 1915 session in Nagpur, the book abruptly comes to a close.

Therefore, the autobiography, "The Story of My Experiments with Truth" is praised for its clearly honest storytelling and clear, straightforward, and colloquial language. Gandhi's autobiography has grown into a crucial source for understanding his life and philosophy. The book describes Gandhi's self-experiments as he followed the truth, which Gandhi saw as a synonym for God.

Select the correct text in the passage. Which sentence states the author's thesis? excerpt from Presidential Retreat adapted from the National Parks Service President Franklin D. Roosevelt was accustomed to seeking relief from hot Washington, D.C. summers and relaxing on weekends aboard the presidential yacht Potomac or at Hyde Park, NY. In 1942, the U.S. Secret Service were very concerned about the President's continued use of the Potomac. World War II had brought an attack on Pearl Harbor and had drawn German U-boats close in Atlantic waters. Presidential safety and Presidential health were concerns. The muggy climate of Washington, D.C. was considered detrimental to his health, affecting his sinuses. A new retreat, a place to relax, within a 100 mile radius of Washington, D.C. and in the cool mountain air was sought. Several sites were considered, but Camp HI- Catoctin in the Catoctin Recreational Demonstration Area was selected after the President's first visit on April 22, 1942. A camp was already built on the site and the estimated conversion cost was $18,650. It was also almost 10 degrees cooler than in Washington, D.C. The camp for federal employees' families became the camp of one federal employee, the President of the United States. Roosevelt quickly renamed the camp "Shangri-La" from James Hilton's 1933 novel, Lost Horizon.

How did Gandhi recognize indentured servants’ brutal treatment? In Natal, a location in what is now South Africa, Gandhi started his legal career. He relocated there since Natal already had a sizeable Indian population working as indentured sugar laborers."A man in shabby clothes, headgear in hand, two front teeth smashed and his mouth bleeding, stood before me one day," Gandhi recalled later.Balasumdaram was an indentured worker, and his boss had severely abused him. Gandhi was aware of Balasumdaram's situationNo matter how brutally his boss had treated him if he left the plantation, he risked being charged with a crime and put in jail.Gandhi understood what an indenture was: "almost as terrible as slavery. Similar to an enslaved person, an indentured worker belonged to his employer."
