If m/DKL = (21x + 5)°, m/JKD = (4x + 2)°,and m/JKL = 132º, find
MZDKL

Answers

Answer 1

Finding the missing angle of the figure, the value of m∠DKL is 110°

Describe angle.

Two rays that have a common endpoint and are referred to as the angle's sides and vertices, respectively, form an angle. Two rays can form angles in the plane where they are positioned. Angles are also produced when two planes intersect. These angles are dihedral.

given,

m∠DKL = (21x + 5)°

m∠JKD = (4x + 2)°

and

m∠JKL = 132°

By angle sum property of angles

m∠DKL + m∠JKD =  m∠JKL

substituting the values, we get

(21x + 5)° + (4x + 2)° equals  132°

(21x + 4x + 5 + 2)° =  132°

(25x + 7)°=  132°

(25x)° =  132° - 7°

x = 125° / 25°

x = 5

now, the value of m∠DKL

m∠DKL = [21 (5) + 5]°

m∠DKL = 105° + 5°

m∠DKL = 110°

Hence the value of m∠DKL is 110°

Solve x+5>−3 and −2x−5≤1 and write the solution in interval notation. If there is no solution, type ∅.

Answers

Answer:

7/4≤x ≤-1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the set of inequalities

−5x−3≥2 and 4x−2≥5

We are to write the solution in interval notation. We need to solve them individually first as shown;

For −5x−3≥2

add 3 to both sides

−5x−3+3≥2+3

-5x ≥5

divide both sides by -5 (note that dividing by a negative value will change the sense of the inequality sign)

-5x/-5 ≤5/-5

x ≤ -1

For the inequality 4x−2≥5;

add 2 to both sides

4x−2+2≥5+2

4x≥7

divide both sides by 4;

4x/4 ≥ 7/4

x≥7/4 or 7/4≤x

Combining 7/4≤x and x ≤ -1, the solution in interval notation is expressed as 7/4≤x ≤-1

The Algebra of Functions

Like terms, functions may be combined by addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.

Example 1. Given f ( x ) = 2x + 1 and g ( x ) = x2

+ 2x – 1 find ( f + g ) ( x ) and

( f + g ) ( 2 )

Solution

Step 1. Find ( f + g ) ( x )

Since ( f + g ) ( x ) = f ( x ) + g ( x ) then;

( f + g ) ( x ) = ( 2x + 1 ) + (x2

+ 2x – 1 )

= 2x + 1 + x2

+ 2x – 1

= x

2

+ 4x

Step 2. Find ( f + g ) ( 2 )

To find the solution for ( f + g ) ( 2 ), evaluate the solution above for 2.

Since ( f + g ) ( x ) = x2

+ 4x then;

( f + g ) ( 2 ) = 22

+ 4(2)

= 4 + 8

= 12

Example 2. Given f ( x ) = 2x – 5 and g ( x ) = 1 – x find ( f – g ) ( x ) and ( f – g ) ( 2 ).

Solution

Step 1. Find ( f – g ) ( x ).

( f – g ) ( x ) = f ( x ) – g ( x )

= ( 2x – 5 ) – ( 1 – x )

= 2x – 5 – 1 + x

= 3x – 6

Step 2. Find ( f – g ) ( 2 ).

( f – g ) ( x ) = 3x – 6

( f – g ) ( 2 ) = 3 (2) – 6

= 6 – 6

= 0

Answer: 15-2x

Step-by-step explanation:

h(f(x)) means  you have to write equation in f(x) to every x you see in h(x) which is,

h(f(x))=5-2x+4=9-2x

if we need h(f(x-3)) we will take x as x-3 so,

h(f(x))=15-2x

What are the roots of the function f(x) = (log(3x) − 2log(3)) · (x2 − 1) with x ∈ R?

x = 1, x = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given function:

[tex]f(x)=\left(\log(3x)-2 \log(3)\right) \cdot \left(x^2-1\right)[/tex]

The roots of the function are when f(x) = 0:

[tex]\begin{aligned}f(x) & = 0\\ \implies \left(\log(3x)-2 \log(3)\right) \cdot \left(x^2-1\right) & = 0\\\\ \textsf{Therefore,} \:\:\:\log(3x)-2 \log(3) & = 0\\ \textsf{and }\:\:\:x^2-1 & = 0 \end{aligned}[/tex]

Case 1

[tex]\begin{aligned}\left(\log(3x)-2 \log(3)\right) & = 0\\\log(3x) & = 2 \log(3)\\ \log(3x) & = \log (3)^2\\ \log(3x) & = \log (9)\\ 3x & = 9\\ x & = 3\end{aligned}[/tex]

Case 2

[tex]\begin{aligned}\left x^2-1\right & = 0\\x^2 & = 1\\ x & = \pm 1\end{aligned}[/tex]

As logs of negative numbers cannot be taken, x = 1 only.

Therefore, the roots of the given function are: x = 1, x = 3

What is the length of the missing side?

The Pythagoras theorem can be expressed as;

c = √( a² + b² )

Where c is hypotenuse, a and b are the other two sides of the right triangle.

Given the data in the image;

Length leg 1 of the right triangle a = 14ftLength leg 2 of the right triangle b = 10ftLength of hypotenuse c = ?

Plug the given values into the above equation and solve for the hypotenuse 'c'.

c = √( a² + b² )

c = √( (14)² + (10)² )

c = √( 196 + 100 )

c = √( 296 )

296 can be written as 4 × 74, and 4 can further be written as 2²

Hence

c = √( 2² × 74 )

c = 2√74 ft

In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by natureby a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble.In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar.What was the main problem with relying on nature to start a flame? (5 points) aFire could only be collected with "sticks of wood" that were hard to find. bFire had to be "carefully guarded," requiring someone to stay behind from hunting. cFire had to be "carried to the home," which could be dangerous and awkward. dFire was likely hard to find, requiring a "long journey and a deal of trouble."
