In a simple terms, deforestation is defined as a change in the cover of an area from forest to non-forest, from an area previously labelled as forest (tree vegetation with a certain density) to non-forest (non-tree vegetation or even non-vegetation).

Because of that change, there are several environmental disruptions, including:

1. Natural disasters

Logging activities that set aside forest conversion, result in a decrease in environmental quality and will increase the natural occurrence of natural disasters, such as landslides and floods.

2. Extinction of flora and fauna

Transfers of lands functions that are not in accordance with the functions of forest area can have an impact on the preservation of flora and fauna. If deforestation continues, their natural habitat will shift into areas that only benefit human activities only.

3. Global warming and climate change

The role of forests is to store large carbon reserves. Forests are also able to absorb excess carbon dioxide in the air and convert it into oxygen through the process of photosynthesis which can store more than two hundred billion tons of carbon. So that the deforestation has a very big effect in climate change related to carbon in the air and on peat soil. If peatlands lose the trees on them, they will release the stored carbon into the air.

4. Disruption of the water cycle

Forest loss will result in reduced evaporation of groundwater by trees. This condition results in a drier climate and weather because rainfall will decrease
