Life can exist under frozen surfaces in polar seas because…

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Life exit under frozen surfaces in polar seas because of the anomalous behavior of water.

Explanation:

Water behaves irregularly, which helps in preventing the total freezing of seas during winter.

Since water has its highest density at [tex]4^{o}[/tex]C, the surface of seas freezes while the lower regions or layers is in form of liquid. During winter, as the temperature decreases to [tex]4^{o}[/tex]C, the layer of water with highest density sinks to the bottom while those that are less dense floats to the top. Thus when the surface temperature is below [tex]0^{o}[/tex], the lower layers under the frozen surface are at temperature range between [tex]1^{o}[/tex]C to [tex]4^{o}[/tex]C

2. If a cell has a very large amount of ribosomes attached to its rough
endoplasmic reticulum, what is the cell probably specialized to manufacture?

Answers

Answer:

Protein

Explanation

Ribosome and Rough E.R are organelles  in the cell.

E.R are extensive membranes (which are continuous with the nuclear membrane) that exist as flattened compartment in the cytoplasm. These compartment form sacs in the cytoplasm. The sacs are interconnected with one another to form a complete system  called the reticulum.

Based on structure two types of E.R exists -the Smooth E.R and the Rough Endoplasmic reticulum. The later is called rough because of Ribosomes attached to its outer membrane. the smooth lacks ribosomes attachment on its outer membrane. Ribosomes are the site of Protein synthesis in the cell.

They are small in number and are made up of RNA and protein.Generally the protein  synthesised  in the Ribosomes, are moved into the sacs in the R.E.R,where they are modified. They are eventually budded off in vesicles which form the Golgi bodies

What is Oort cloud?

Oort cloud may be characterized as a type of cloud that is believed to be spherically surrounding the sun far beyond the orbits of the outermost planets.

In this universe, the planets of our solar system orbit in a flat plane, the Oort Cloud is believed to be a giant spherical shell surrounding the Sun, planets, and Kuiper Belt Objects. It's like a big, thick bubble around our solar system, made of icy, comet-like objects.

Therefore, the Oort cloud is located in the outermost region of the solar system, beyond Neptune. Thus, the correct option for this question is B.

Answers

There is an uneven distribution of electrons between oxygen & hydrogen atoms

A water molecule is polar because there is an uneven distribution of electrons between the oxygen and the hydrogen atoms. Therefore, the correct option is A.

A water molecule (H₂O) consists of two hydrogen atoms linked to one oxygen atom.

The electronegativity of oxygen is 3.44 which is higher than the electronegativity of hydrogen, which is 2.2. As a result, it tends to pull the shared electrons towards itself, because of which it acquires a partial negative charge and the hydrogen atoms acquire a partial positive charge.

As a result of unequal sharing of electrons, a dipole moment in the molecule is created, making the water molecule polar.

Explanation:

1. The crisis the people in cape town were facing was a major drought that affected animals, plants, and people.

2. The crisis was caused by 3 years of barely any rainfall and the people using the same amount of water they had been using for a while. Naturally, things caught up and the people were using to much water without enough to supply.

3. The government and local authorities started setting laws to restrict water usage. So businesses and citizens had to restrict water usage very quickly. At one point they said they would run out of water completely, that made reality set in for people. People started setting out separate buckets and jars to collect water for drinking, bathing, and watering their plants for food. Everyone stopped using their baths.

People removed eucalyptus trees so water would start running down the dams.

Businesses had to manage the water even more carefully, they had to make sure that how much water they were using was under the limit but still accommodating either the plants or the people or the animals.

4. The crisis was ultimately resolved when the rain came again and people kept their same restrictions for a little bit to catch up and then they started getting more water gradually but still making sure they weren't using too much.

5. Now that the crisis is over, I think it will have have a lasting impact on the people of Cape Town. I think mentally it made them more aware of what could happen and made them more precarious. I think if there was less rainfall for a bit again they would start going into preparation mode, but this time, know more about how to reverse it and live with it. Like in the video, it showed the hotels, people, and businesses have started monitoring the water usage again and installing things to catch extra water and making sure there is a backup water containers to avoid this in the future. I also think because of all the restrictions it will affect the land for quite a while, you can't just replant trees and vegetables, and regrow all the foods businesses produced with a snap of a finger, it takes time, seasons, months, so consequently as the land is affected so are the people.

I think the crisis affected the people's mindset by changing their outlook on water and showed them how to be more frugal with water.

(you can change this up and put it in your own words if you want, idk, I hope this is good enough :) )

What is Plant cell?

Plant cell is the basic unit of all plants. Plant cells are eukaryotic in nature. They have a membrane-bound nucleus and organelles. Plant cells have a cell wall surrounding the cell membrane.

The cell wall has many functions on which the life of the plant depends. Plant cell walls are composed of cellulose, which distinguishes them from other organisms with cell walls, such as bacteria (peptidoglycan) and fungi (chitin). Algal cell walls are similar to those of plants, and many contain specific polysaccharides that are useful for classification.

Examples of plant cells include different specialized cells like parenchyma, sclerenchyma and collenchyma cells.

Thus, Vacuole is most likely responsible for whether or not a plant cell is flaccid or turgid. So, the correct option is (A).

Dependent Variable: c. Control Variable:

Answers

Answer:

independent variable: size of soccer ball

dependent variable: period of time the balls stay in the air

control variable: parts of the body used to juggle the ball

Explanation:

The independent variable is the manipulatable variable supplied into an experiment. It is a variable that directly affects the dependent variable.

The independent variable is the outcome variable. It is the variable that is primarily measured from experiments whose value depends on the value of the independent variable.

The control variables are those that are kept constant throughout the course of experiments. In other words, they do not directly affect experimental outcomes.

Hence, in the illustration;

independent variable: size of soccer ball

dependent variable: period of time the balls stay in the air

control variable: parts of the body used to juggle the ball
