What would be some good ideas / changes that would come about from Westward Expansion?

Answers

Answer 1

One huge change during Westward Expansion was transportation. Railroads were being introduced and the transport of products and people was easier and more efficient. Factories and companies were now making more money, as they had an easier way of transporting goods, which meant more jobs for the people.

There were also way more mining jobs and opportunities, as new technology was being created and introduced to easily find and mine precious metals. People would travel across the country to have jobs as miners, trying to find gold and get rich.

Land was also becoming cheaper because of the Westward Expansion. The Homestead Act made it so many adult citizens could claim land and do whatever they pleased with it. Many people built homes and some used it to cultivate crops.

which part of the location 67 degrees n 55 degrees e represents the longitude

Answers

Answer:

55º E corresponds to the longitude.

Explanation:

We must remember from Geography that any astronomical location on Earth is represented by two components: Latitude and Longitude.

Latitude is the angular distance with respect to the Equator, whereas Longitude is the angular distance with respect to the Greenwich Meridian.

It is quite widespread that Latitude corresponds to the first component of the astronomical location and Longitude is the second one.

Therefore, 55º E corresponds to the longitude.

The Mayflower Compact of 1620:

was signed by men from one of the first groups of English colonists who came to America

set up a government and the first written laws for the new settlers arriving at Plymouth Colony (now the state of Massachusetts)

created laws for the "general good" (common good) of the settlement

included the idea of "will of the majority," where decisions are made based on what the majority of people agree to do

included the idea of the social contract where the settlers consented to follow the Compact's rules for the sake of the survival of the new colony

influenced Americans to think that British policies and laws harmed instead of supported the common good

influenced Americans to think that King George III, in their own time, was breaking the social contract where he was bound to protect their rights and provide security

was the foundation of the U.S. Constitution according to John Adams and other Founding Fathers

Big Idea: The Mayflower Compact is an example of self-government. The people would determine laws and government for themselves rather than an outside government doing it for them.

2. Why were colonial New Englanders willing to believe accusations of witchcraft
about their fellow colonists?

Answers

Answer:

Because they believed that the devil was acting through witches and they believed that the devil was acting in their territories.

Explanation:

The New England region promoted many adverse situations for the colonists. The cold climate, the conflict between two native tribes in the region and the spread of smallpox cases made Puritan settlers believe that the devil was close to the region and that he would continue to act negatively on their lives.

For them the devil was able to act through witches and as the population was facing many problems (in addition to the many deaths that occurred), they began to distrust each other, which initiated a vast and crazy search for witches and signs of witchcraft in the population.
