Read the following excerpt from Chris Jacobs' reflective narrative "Everlasting Wannabe." As you read, consider whether this is an example of reflection or documentation of an event.
I nearly dropped my Gobstoppers. In six weeks at this new school, no one but my teacher had ever addressed me when it wasn't absolutely necessary. He had to speak again – "Yeah, you!" – before I actually started toward him. The slide was at the far end of an elaborate, fortress-like structure with a suspension bridge, a jungle gym, a sliding pole, and monkey bars. Though it was my first time getting close to it, I had spent most recesses since joining this new school admiring it from afar. The chunky blue slide was topped by a wooden hutch big enough for three or four kids to inhabit.

Which of the following events occur during the "Redemption & Restoration" stage of Pip's story in Great Expectations? Select all that apply.
Group of answer choices
Pip helps Herbert with his finances.
Pip tries to rescue Magwitch.
Pip celebrates the marriage of Joe and Biddy.
Pip forgives Miss Havisham.
Pip chooses a name for himself.
Pip learns to read and write.

Answers

Answer:

Pip helps Herbert with his finances.

Pip tries to rescue Magwitch.

Pip celebrates the marriage of Joe and Biddy.

Pip forgives Miss Havisham.

Explanation:

Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations" revolves around the story of an orphaned boy named Pip and his 'growth' to become a man of social standing. The story deals with themes of love, loyalty, acceptance, wealth, and social class.

The story of Pip and his growth is akin to that of the Bible where there is creation, fall, redemption, and restoration of the character(s). Similarly, Pip's life also took him through the different stages where he learned to educate himself and become a better person. And the class, wealth, and importance that he once wanted so bad became secondary to him. Instead, he wanted loyalty, affection, and a clear conscience. And in his "redemption and restoration" stage, he did some acts that showed how changes he had become.

He not only forgave and save Miss Havisham, but he also helps Herbert with his finances and helped celebrate the marriage between Joe and Biddy. Moreover, he also tries to rescue Magwitch.

Thus, the correct answers are the first, second, third, and fourth options.

How to tell what a noun clause sentence looks like

Answer:

A noun clause is a group of words acting together as a noun. These clauses are always dependent clauses. That is, they do not form a complete sentence.

Explanation:

If you have trouble finding the noun clause, try circling the question words in the sentence. This can get you on the right path to finding the noun clause. Also look for the sentence verbs to get you started. A noun clause always contains a verb, so circling the verbs can also show you where the noun clause is.

What are three aspects of society today that you would like to reform, improve or change? Why?

Answers

1. Unrealistic beauty standards. It’s a plague to our society and needs to be changed. It causes a lot of people to develop serious mental heath issues, identity issues and even body dysmorphia just trying to emulate the beauty standards that are simply unattainable and not real.

2. Poverty. I think it’s unfair that not everyone can have access to healthcare, which in my opinion should not be paid for, food, shelter and warmth. Which are the basic things needed to live. Not saying we should all be paid the same salary and live in the same houses, even if we’re a hardworking doctor. I just think everyone should be able to be fed, have somewhere to live and clothes on their back and an education so that they have the chance to get a job and create a career for themselves.

3. There’s so many things I’d want to change, limiting it to 3 is so hard lol but my third one would probably be equality between people whether that be race, religion, gender, whatever a person identifies as, who they love, what they want to be in life or however a person chooses to dress, whatever. This is due to the fact that everyone is different. There’s nothing we can do to change that, people are going to be different, they’re going to want to do things differently, they’re going to be born differently etc. Others shouldn’t treat someone else differently or bad because of the colour of someone’s skin, or because of the fact that they’re a woman, for example. A lot of people are prejudice to others just because of the things that make someone who they are, and I think it’s wrong and I’d love for it to change.

Other things I’d like to improve or change: environmental pollution,
global warming, world hunger, animal abuse, war, the education system and the prison system.

EducationHealth andPowerI will like to reform these aspects of society because these factors are the heart of any nation. Improving on them will better the standard of living.

A nation with enlightened citizens has such great power to transform their society with the knowledge acquired from learning.
