Mrs. Bertha Flowers was the aristocrat of Black Stamps. She had the grace of control to appear warm in the coldest weather, and on the Arkansas summer days it seemed she had a private breeze which swirled around, cooling her. She was thin without the taut look of wiry people, and her printed voile dresses and flowered hats were as right for her as denim overalls for a farmer. She was our side’s answer to the richest white woman in town.

Writing Prompt: I need 2 to 3 paragraphs on this topic. Just write why online high school education is better than public school education. 2 small paragraphs with 4 sentences or 3 doesn't matter.
Some schools offer distance learning as an option for students to attend classes from home by way of online or video conferencing. Do you think students would benefit from being able to attend classes from home? Take a position on this issue. Support your response with reasons and examples.
Online Highschool education is better than public school education for several reasons. One reason is online learning is better is that it is much more efficient. You only have to log on and look at the teacher. The teacher isn't focused on quieting the class down for the first couple minutes of class, and therefore not a lot of class time is wasted.
Another reason it is better than in person learning is how much easier it is to get one on one instruction without sacrificing your lunch or your ride home after school. With public school, some people can't get extra tutoring or help because they don't have transportation for after school. But with online education, there is no need to worry about that. And, you can log right on during lunch and eat while receiving extra instruction.
Some might say that online learning is more inconvenient than learning in person, but I have to disagree. If anything, it's is more convenient. You don't have to wake up so early to get ready for school, or face the judgement of your peers. There will be pros and there will be cons no matter what we do, it's a part of life. But change can be good.

why is pre-writing important?
Explanation:
The first step to effective prewriting is this: understand why you are prewriting. When you are first taught to prewrite, most teachers require proof of prewriting activities. It is all too easy to quickly sketch out a concept map after your paper is written, just to receive credit.
Prewriting consists of four main steps: choosing a topic, considering a purpose, identifying the audience, and gathering and organizing ideas (Schweiker-Marra 102). Effective prewriting makes the rest of the writing process easier and less stressful.
The more time and effort you put into prewriting, the less time you will have to spend on the rest of the writing process. If you develop a plan before you start writing, your writing will start with a purpose and a structure. You won't slog your way through an agonizing complete draft and then realize that your topic isn't fleshed out, you have no purpose, and you dislike your stance. When you prewrite, you can create a projection of your final project before you even start. "At a glance, you can see where you're heading, and if you don't like it, you can change it in the prewriting stage, before you've invested a lot of time and effort" (Raymer 25).
The benefits of prewriting are not limited to the English classroom, or even to writing. Prewriting teaches organizational skills. It teaches students how to apply thinking, planning, and organizing skills to other learning tasks (Go 5). Acquiring these skills reduces anxiety, not only from writing, but from all testing in general. Getting in the habit of using prewriting activities changes the way people approach a project of any sort, whether it be a research paper, an engineering project, or even an art project (you brainstorm ideas, select an appropriate form, research technique, and create an outline, or visual plan, before you start on the final product).
Prewriting activities can save you a lot of stress. If you haven't had much success with prewriting in the past, don't worry. There are a lot of prewriting techniques. Experiment with them a bit, personalize them, and you're bound to find a strategy that works for you.

Question: In order to reach fundamental convictions that he can call his own, Descartes decides to sweep aside all the opinions he had learned “at school.” However he is careful to distinguish his position from that of the skeptics. What is the distinction he makes?
Answer:
Descartes is untroubled by the fact that, as he has described them, mind and matter are very different: One is spatial and the other not, and therefore one cannot act upon the other. ... It is the nature of bodies to be in space, and the nature of minds not to be in space, Descartes claims.
Descartes is unconcerned by the fact that thought and substance are very different from one another as he has described them: One is spatial and the other is not, thus one cannot act upon the other. According to Descartes, it is in the nature of bodies to be in space whereas it is not in the nature of minds to be in space.
What is skeptics ?Skepticism is a critical mindset or lack of faith in knowledge assertions that are taken as mere dogma or beliefs. For instance, if someone has reservations about the veracity of claims made by their government regarding a conflict that is still going on.
In these situations, sceptics typically advise suspending one's belief rather than denying it, i.e., retaining an attitude that neither supports nor refutes the assertion. The perception that the data is insufficient to support the argument typically serves as the driving force behind this mindset.
Skepticism is a formal subject of interest in philosophy, especially epistemology. In a more informal setting, skepticism can be used to convey doubt or questions about any subject, including pseudoscience, politics, and religion.
Hence, Descartes and Hume both use skepticism and doubt as a tactic. In contrast to Hume, who employs doubt to try to explain how we come to know things, Descartes uses doubt to find truth and knowledge in the sciences. Thus, for epistemological purposes, both employ skepticism. Hume spends much time on cause and effect.

The person above me has a great answer. This is just a copy and paste version of his with a few fixed spelling mistakes and some minor changes to some wording.
The Tinker v. Des Moines case is a landmark decision by the US Supreme Court. This decision defended the constitutional rights of public school students. This case started when Mart Beth Tinker, John F Tinker, Hope Tinker, and Paul Tinker decided to wear a black armband to school to protest against the Vietnam War. The school officers didn’t allow that and asked the students to remove the armbands immediately, they refused and because of that, they were sent home.
The Iowa Civil Liberties Union Filed a suit and then it got to the US Supreme Court it ruled a 7-2 decision.
The majority opinion of the court was based in that the First amendment - that prevents the government from banishing religion, prohibiting the freedom of speech, of the press and other rights - is applied to public schools.
The dissidents' opinion was that disruptive symbolic speech was not protected by the first amendment and that “I have never believed that any person has a right to give speeches or engage in demonstrations where he pleases and when he pleases.” The judge said that this ruling would give an authorization for pupils and students to defy orders of school principals.
The stronger argument is the majority argument. The first amendment is clear that every single American citizen has the right to freedom of speech, also the first amendment doesn't say which place the freedom of speech is not allowed. The students. In this case, did not hurt or say anything to anyone, they simply wanted to wear an armband that symbolized their opinion. It is not correct that school officials that do not agree with that opinion just censor it, creating new rules just because of that. The fact that the students didn’t do anything to harm any other student and didn’t affect the operation of the school was another sign of the illegality of the act of the schools principal, this is also the opinion of the court: materially and substantially interfere with the requirements of appropriate discipline in the operation of the school."
