“Through the tunnel” is a famous short story written by the well renowned British writer Doris Lessing. Eleven-year-old Jerry is the protagonist of the story. He travels to a beach in a foreign country along with his mother for a vacation.
There he sees some native boys diving under the water, swimming through a tunnel and coming out somewhere far. The curious Jerry tries to imitate the native boys, who are older than him. Jerry finally manages to swim through the tunnel. The journey was hard, but he manages to come out of the tunnel safely, except for a wound in his head.
