Hello, in my class I need to do an interview with a teacher who has worked with dual-language learners. So can someone help me with those questions?
1. What is your experience working with dual-language learners?
2. What advice would you give to a new teacher learning to work with children who have a home language other than English?
3. In what ways do you use the classroom environment to support children's language acquisition?
4. What are some teaching strategies you use to support bilingual children in your classroom?
5. Do you gather information from families to support bilingual children in your classroom? If so, what do you do?
6. How do you communicate student progress to other staff and families?
7. If the students only speak home languages how do you communicate with them?
Answer:
I used to be a dual language learner :)
1) Answer this one from your own experience
2) Do everything slowly and clearly, and repeat as many times as needed. This will go a long way.
3) Encourage participation even if students are wrong, after all, making mistakes is one of the best ways to learn. Also, you can hang posters of important topics and steps. Occasionally, reward students for doing well by either not giving homework, or giving some extra credit points.
4) Repeat things a lot to emphasize their importance. Be patient, and do things slowly. Try to relate to their cultures and backgrounds, this will make them engage more and become more interested.
5) I don't think that this is very necessary.
6) Sending a weekly or a monthly letter or an email in both languages to the families to show the student's progress and what they learned, and how much they have improved since the beginning.
7) I strongly recomment getting a teacher aid that speaks both languages. Moreover, pictures of things are a great way to make people understand. Also, some sign language and gestures would help.

you were called to principal office because you were involved in a fight in class write two diary entries
Answer: The following is down below.
Explanation:
4/2/17
Dear diary,
The fight went something like this:
Jeff and I sat next to each other for history class. We usually pass notes while we're finishing our boring homework. As usual, he started the conversation with my choice of hat.
Jeff: What's with the hat? Are you emo or something?
Me: Just because I'm wearing a black hat doesn't make me emo.
Jeff: Fine. Why are you always so defensive? Can't you just be chill for one second?
Me: Are we really talking about this Jeff? I have to get my homework done.
Jeff: Since when were you so eager to finish schoolwork? Last I checked, you'd rather count the ceiling tiles than do your geometry homework.
Me: So? Has it ever dawned to you that I have nothing but C-'s and D+'s for a report card and that I would want to get decent grades for a change?
Jeff: Are you serious? Who are you? I thought we were buddies.
Me: I don't know what to tell you, Jeff. Honestly, if you're going to fight me on something like this, you might as well get it over with.
Jeff: I don't believe this.
Me: Fight me or finish your homework knowing you lost. It's your choice.
Jeff: Is that a threat?
Me: No, it's a promise.
Then it got worse from there. Seriously, with friends like Jeff, really, who needs enemies?
All for now,
(Three days later...)
4/5/17
Dear diary,
Life couldn't get much worse. This is the second time I've gone to the principal's office in the last week. If I go to the office one more time, I'll be suspended from school! However, the principal's office is the least of my worries. I still have to go home clutching another detention slip in hopes of stashing it before my parents find out.
Jeff couldn't be more of a pest. He's the reason I'm sitting on the waiting chair next to him. He looks like he's going to be executed or something. I guess Jeff has never been to the principal.
Then, we were called to Mr. Dodson's office. Jeff and I slowly walked toward the office. As we sat down, the principal looked between the two of us as if concentrating on what James Hastings did this time.
Mr. Dodson: Well well. I see Mr. Hastings is back again with another problem.
Jeff: Please Mr. Dodson! Please don't punish me!
Me: Oh, drop the act. Everyone in class saw our notes and the fight.
Mr. Dodson: I'm afraid I'll have to give you both detention. As for you James, I really need you to do better than this. Your sister is worried about you being suspended if you keep this up.
Jeff: (Snickers).
Mr. Dodson: (Clears his throat): As for you Mr. Neal, I suggest that you cut the laughter short. You're in as much trouble as James is, so I recommend you keep quiet. Now, please take these slips and be on your way. Remember what I said!
Jeff and me: Yes sir.
And it pretty much unraveled from there. Man detention stinks.
All for now,
(End of diary entries)
Have a great day! :)
