Which area of the country was least affected by the growing transportation networks in the united states in the 1800s? in other words, which area of the country remained relatively isolated from the knowledge of the rest of the world?.

Answers

Answer 1

The South remained relatively isolated from the knowledge of the rest of the world.

Why was the South remained isolated ?

Although the majority of white people in the South did not own any slaves, a culture of white supremacy made sure that impoverished whites associated more with wealthy slaveholders than with African Americans who were held in slavery.

A false picture of joyful slaves was projected by influential southern writers, who strongly contrasted reality, in order to promote slavery as a "positive good."

The North and South remained in close conflict with one another over the topic of slavery due to extensive sectional differences, including support for or opposition to slavery outright, economic, religious, educational, cultural, and political traditions.

why did national farm workers association leaders cesar chavez and dolores huerta organize a nationwide boycott of grapes?

Answers

The majority of Cesar Chavez's life was spent laboring on Californian fields, where wages were meager and amenities were scarce.

He started gathering farm employees into a labor union in the 1950s in an effort to change the situation by pressuring their employers to provide them with better wages and working conditions. The Delano grape strike is notable for three things in particular that revolutionized the farm labor movement in America: the successful implementation and adaptation of boycotts; the unprecedented partnership between Filipino and Mexican farm workers to unionize farm labor; and the ensuing formation of the UFW labor union. Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association (later known as the United Farm Workers) because he was committed to the nonviolent resistance strategies used by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. Workers of America) and achieved significant victories in the late 1960s and early 1970s to increase wages and enhance working conditions for farm workers. Many people who have heard of César Chavez are unaware of Dolores Huerta, who co-founded the United Farm Workers and oversaw the boycott of grapes while raising 11 kids. The Agricultural Revolution:

The revolution that shaped the modern world

By Nolan Norman

During the end of the Neolithic Stone Age, the earth started heating up and new plants began showing up. Some of these were wild types of wheat and barley. Then people started learning to grow more of these crops. Then went from hunting animals, to domesticating animals to breed and keep as pets. So with this started the Agricultural Revolution.

The Agricultural Revolution was a revolution because it was a new way of getting and producing  food. It changed people’s way of life. Now people became dependent farmers and domesticated animals to help them with their work and provide an easier way to get meat along with a plethora of other things. They didn’t have to keep moving from one cave to another. They then started to build permanent homes for themselves and were able to have a safer way of life. They built their homes near rivers, so that they could have fertile soil to plant crops, and so that they had easy access to water to drink, and water the crops with.

Farming created many brand new challenges that early humans had to learn to work with. That is why this point in history is called a revolution. People's entire way of life along with traditions and habits.

In order to keep crops watered and protect them from flooding they built large channels to control the rivers and keep the land from flooding. The calendar was also developed so that people knew when to plant and harvest. The people also created gods of harvest such as Demeter the greek god of harvest, and Lugh the celtic god of harvest. While there are plenty of other gods of harvest I can not name all of them.

Because people started working together they realized that words were not enough to communicate. They needed a new system of conveying their thoughts and findings. This new form of communicating is called cuneiform script.

In conclusion, the Agricultural Revolution changed and shaped the modern world as we know it. This revolution has affected the way we live. We changed from a hunter- gatherer society to an agricultural society, instead of hunting animals we began taming them. I can safely say The Agricultural Revolution has changed are world for the better.

How did increased economic prosperity facilitate the participation of women in the reform movements of the nineteenth century?.

Answers

Due to the increased economic prosperity, women were able to focus on societal concerns more because of the expansion of the urban middle class, in the reform movements of the nineteenth century.

What are the reform movements of the nineteenth century?

The three major social reform movements of the nineteenth century—abolition, temperance, and women's rights—were intertwined and possessed many of the same leaders. Many of its members were evangelical Protestants, and they regarded themselves as promoting social change on a global scale. Although leaders in all three revolutions were connected and exchanged ideas and techniques, they may have focused on one reform over another. Due to the interconnection between the worldwide slave trade and the alcohol trade, as well as the need of banning both at once, temperance and abolition were linked.

The abolitionist movement achieved prominence and was the principal area of reform activity in the years just before the American Civil War. Leaders of the temperance and women's rights groups intentionally retired while the fight against slavery gained the stage.

Following the war, the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments outlawed slavery, ensured black men's citizenship, and forbade people from being denied the right to vote on the grounds of race, colour, or prior state of servitude. Many abolitionists viewed their job as over at this point and shifted their attention to other areas in need of reform. Women's rights advocates who had previously supported abolition thought it was unjust that African-American men's voting and other rights limitations had been lifted while they had remained in place for women. They shifted their focus to achieving women's suffrage and combating other societal and legal barriers to the lives of women.

What was Cold War?

The phrase "cold war" initially emerged in a 1945 essay titled "You and the Atomic Bomb" by English author George Orwell.

The Soviet Union and the United States fought as allies against the Axis powers during World War II. But there was tension in the two countries relationship. Americans had long-standing reservations about Soviet communism and worries about Joseph Stalin's brutal control of his own nation.

By the time World War II was over, the majority of American authorities were in agreement that the "containment" approach offered the best protection against the Soviet menace. The diplomat George Kennan (1904–2005) outlined the strategy in his infamous "Long Telegram."

The containment strategy also served as the justification for an extraordinary American armaments buildup. Truman's advice that the US employs military force to restrain communist expansionism wherever it appeared to be happening was reaffirmed by a National Security Council report known as NSC-68 in 1950.
