Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

An elephant’s trunk is a marvel of biology. Devoid of any joints or bone, the trunk is an appendage made of pure muscle that is capable of both uprooting trees and gingerly plucking individual leaves and also boasts a sense of smell more powerful than a bomb-sniffing dog’s.

Elephants use their trunks in a variety of ways. They use it to drink, store and spray water, and they also blow air through it to communicate — their 110-decibel bellows can be heard for miles.

“It’s like a muscular multitool,” said Andrew Schulz, a mechanical engineering doctoral student at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

In a study published Wednesday in The Journal of the Royal Society Interface, Mr. Schulz and his colleagues reported on how elephants can use their trunks for yet another function: applying suction to grab food, a behavior previously thought to be exclusive to fishes.

Despite the ubiquity of elephants in children’s books and nature documentaries, there are numerous gaps in scientific knowledge about the biomechanics of their trunks that the new study helps fill. For example, the most recent detailed account of elephant trunk anatomy is a hand-drawn monograph that was published in 1908, Mr. Schulz said.

Contrary to popular belief, the trunk does not act like a straw.

“What they do is actually drink water into their trunk and they store it,” Mr. Schulz said. “So the elephant trunk is actually like a trunk.”

do words like "bulldozing*
"burned" suggest about how
Della saved money, and how
she feels about it?

Please help!!

Answers

Words like "bulldozing" and "burned" suggest the following about how Della saved money and how she feels about it:

- When the narrator says Della saved money by "bulldozing" the grocer, he means that she had to insist, almost force him, to reduce prices so that she would not spend all her money.

- When he says her cheeks "burned" with imputation, he means that she feels embarrassed for having to do such a thing. Such an insistence shows how poor she is, and that makes her feel self-conscious.

Della is the main character in the short story "The Gift of the Magi," by O. Henry. She and her husband Jim are a poor couple, but they love each other greatly. The passage we are analyzing here shows that Della tried her best to save money. She had to be very insistent with the grocer to be able to save that one dollar and eighty-seven cents. She feels embarrassed by it, knowing that when she insists for prices to be reduced she is revealing her own need to be "cheap" due to lack of money. That is what the words "bulldozing" and "burned" mean in the context. "Bulldozing" refers to her forcing the grocer to comply to her means, and "burned" refers to her feeling of embarrassment.

What is credibility?

According to psychologist Dan O'Keefe, credibility is a determination of the communicator's plausibility by the listener. And it's crucial because people frequently decide how to react to a persuasive message based not on its substance but rather on how the communicator is perceived. It calls for more than just engaging writing or speaking. Moreover, it needs credibility, which Aristotle saw as essential to persuasion.

Aristotle believed that a communicator needed to be seen as a person of excellent character in order to have an impact on an audience. proving your fairness, openness, and lack of a secret goal. For instance, presenting thoughts in a balanced manner without appearing weak and intrepid to the point that you lack any semblance of a rational point of view.

Are all humans capable of true evil? Why or why not?

Answers

Answer:

Yes, no human is born innately evil or good; eveyone is capable of any action. If a person has the mental capacity then they could truly become evil. Whether or not a person is capable of evil is based on the situation and events they have experienced. Since anyone would go through anything at any point, anyone could, theoretically, be truly evil. Everyone has their limit for what they can handle. Once this limit is exceeded, there is no way to ensure that someone will not become evil. There is no way to 100% guarantee how someone will act or how they will turn out.

Answer:

To answer your question, Every single person out there in the world is different. We all choose if we want to treat people with respect OR disrespect someone, Some people out there in the world are just pure evil... which is very sad and heartbreaking but guess what? When we were born our hearts were pure and innocent and there was no sin in us as we got older we started to develop who we are and decided to be. Basically what i'm trying to say is no one out there in the world is perfect... we all make mistakes and that is OKAY! Because we learn from those mistakes and next time we can do better by it. The world is full with all different types of people thats all. God Bless you.

______________________________________________

Thanhha Lai was born in the country of Vietnam. She and her family escaped to Alabama at the end of the war. She learned English from fourth-graders there, and then spent the next ten years improving her grammar. She began her journalism career as a reporter at The Orange County Register. She shifted to fiction, earning an MFA from New York University and having short stories published in a variety of periodicals and anthologies.

Then followed "Inside Out & Back Again," a verse book that won a National Book Award and a Newbery Honor based in part on her youth as a refugee in Alabama. The following book was "Listen, Slowly," a middle grade fiction about a young Vietnamese-American girl.

It's a stark and honest tale that follows Hà as she leaves behind the only home she's ever known to journey to America by boat. Hà and her family struggle to find their footing in the United States, despite the fact that she has left the conflict behind. They're finally gaining their bearings towards the end of the year and as the book closes everyone clutching onto faith that things would get better.

The narrative takes place over the course of a year and is told in brief free-verse poems: As the Communists take over her hometown of Saigon in 1975, 10-year-old Ha and her family are forced to flee Vietnam. Ha's family arrives in Alabama with a sponsor family after covertly escaping by ship and residing in two temporary refugee camps.

They must learn a new language, attend school, look for jobs, establish friends, cope with bullying and mistrust  and figure out how to become American citizens. They must also say a final, symbolic goodbye to Ha's father, who has been missing in action for the past ten years.

Tenacity, courage, and intelligence are among Ha's characteristics in Inside Out and Back Again. She's also hesitant and frightened, which is understandable considering her family's situation.

Inside Out and Back Again's dilemma is that the Vietnam War was approaching Saigon, forcing them to flee to Alabama. Inside Out and Back Again begins with Ha arriving at her new school, unable to communicate with anybody and being ridiculed because she is different from everyone else.

Her migration to America brings with it a slew of new obstacles. All refugees confront obstacles such as bullying, prejudice, and a lack of language skills. Inside Out and Back Again is a storey about a refugee's common experience. These difficulties are depicted in Ha's narrative.
