Read the claim. School uniforms diminish students’ individuality and creativity and have no place in the school system. Which evidence best supports the claim? Select two options. A student’s choice of clothing is protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, since dress is a form of expression. A University of Houston study found that girls’ language test scores rose by about 3 percent after uniforms were introduced. Students at high schools across the nation struggle daily with the decision of what to wear, a decision that plagues adults as well. The enforcement of uniforms contradicts the ideas presented in the schools about freedom fighters like Susan B. Anthony. One recent study found that school uniforms had no effect on behavioral issues, but they had a negative effect on academic performance.
Answer:
Since you have to choose two answers, I feel it would be safe to use " A student’s choice of clothing is protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, since dress is a form of expression," and "One recent study found that school uniforms had no effect on behavioral issues, but they had a negative effect on academic performance."
Explanation:
These two seem to be much more important facts than the rest. For the first statement, the Constitution is something important to the American people. Pulling a card like that is a highly strong argument since it's illegal to go against the Consitution.
For the second statement, schools depend on their students, though it may sound harsh, to improve how they look. If the students do well, then so does the school because they are recommended more than others. If the students are doing a horrible job, it reflects badly on the administrators' teaching skills and no one really wants that to happen. So, if clothing choice were to affect academic performance, the schools would want to fix that, no?
The evidence that substantiates the given claim would be:
A). "A student’s choice of clothing is protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution since the dress is a form of expression."
E). "One recent study found that school uniforms had no effect on behavioral issues, but they had a negative effect on academic performance."
Claim and Evidence:
The claim asserts that having school uniforms destroys the unique identity of the students and therefore, they must not be included in the system of the school. The evidence that validates the truth of this claim would be:
The constitutional amendment number first declares 'uniform as a form of articulation' and thereby, it gives the students the right to opt for the clothes which they feel represent them best. The conclusion of the latest study is that school uniforms cause an obstructive impact on the students' academic performance. These evidences support the claim and establish its credibility before the readers and persuades them to accept and believe this claim. Hence, options A and E are the correct answers.

can someone make a story out of this
witch sentence contains both simile and personification?
Answer:
I can't see the answer choices
Explanation:
Personification is a type of figurative language where the writer gives something that is not alive, lifelike qualities
so for example: the wind howled in the night
or the lightning danced through the clouds
wind cannot technically howl and lightning cannot literally dance but these descriptive words give the reader a picture in their brain of the situation.
a simile is a form of figurative language where you compare something to something different while using the words either "like" or "as"
this can give the reader an idea of what something might be like.
for example: it was as light as a feather or you are as cute as a kitten
technically the person being described is not an actual kitten obviously but comparing them to a kitten gives the reader an idea of how cute they are
make sure in similes, it includes the words either like or as. otherwise it is actually a metaphor

The Great Escape
“Emma’s gone!” I yelled at my mom. “She just isn’t there!” I searched the floor frantically to find her. Just a minute ago I was feeding her in the bathroom and the second time I checked on her, she was gone. Since Emma is a gecko and is as wee as a mouse, she could be in any tiny place or crevice. I could feel my face getting hot. She could be anywhere!
I rushed to my mom, sister, and brother. “I just checked on Emma and sh-sh-she’s not there!” I stammered. We all hurried to the bathroom and peered into the vacant cage. I was definitely right; she was nowhere to be seen. Right away we took action.
My mom and sister scurried downstairs to get flashlights while my brother and I hunted for Emma. It was getting darkish outside so the flashlights helped out a ton. We searched in every nook and cranny possible: under our bunk bed, beneath the messy dresser, in our crowded closet, and even in my brother’s bright orange room. She couldn’t have just disappeared into thin air, I thought; it just wouldn’t be possible. During the rest of the time we looked, the flashlights were spotlights putting the attention on the main person, only this time they couldn’t find that main person.
**************
A week passed. It seemed like just yesterday when I got Emma. I could remember when I first held her. Her skin as smooth as baby skin and her needle sharp nails pinpricking my hand. Now she was gone. My very first gecko, gone.
That night my mom read my sister and me the story Mustard by Jessel Miller. “A miracle happens every day!” she finished dreamily. My sister stood up to go to the bathroom. Suddenly she exclaimed, “I found her; I found Emma!” Sure enough, there she was crawling out from behind the toilet, making little clickety-clackety sounds on the tile floor. I was overjoyed! It was as if she was ready to come home. I caught her and put her back in her little habitat. Then I fell asleep contented.
Ever since Emma escaped I now watch her much more carefully. She even has a small cage in which I feed her so there is no way she can escape. I have learned that everything needs a little adventure now and then, whether it’s me or my gecko.
What is the theme in this story?
Answer:
these theme that often appears is “the great escape” where the older person, in a major rite of passage, overcomes enormous obstacles to reconcile with the past and prepare for death.

Use the sentences to answer the question. Many people believe a European named Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. However, Gutenberg’s press was actually building on inventions that appeared centuries earlier in China. What is the connection between the ideas in these sentences? a. problem and solution b. comparison c. contrast d. cause and effect
The correct answer is C) contrast.
The connection between the ideas in these sentences is "contrast."
When we use contrast, we want t to compare two sentences, two assumptions, or two facts, so we can see the similarities or the differences and could get to a conclusion. This is done to have a much better perspective of the object of study. In this case, if many people believe a European named Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, we have to take into consideration that Gutenberg’s press was actually building on inventions that appeared centuries earlier in China. So Gutenberg based his work on previous works from Chinese people.
With this contrast, we are able to understand that the Chinese have their own merit in this marvelous discovery.

Here again good incense grows in profusion—I will tell you how. It is produced by trees of no great size, like little fir trees.
