Francisco Pizarro (1478-1541) was a Spanish conquistador who traveled through much of the Pacific coast of America along Peru. He "discovered" the Incan empire and conquered it brutally and quickly, stealing immense hoards of gold, silver, and other treasures. Pizarro landed at San Mateo Bay in 1532.

Diego de Almagro  was who he brought with him.

It was not until 1523, when he was some 48 years old, that Pizarro embarked upon the adventure that was to lead to his lasting fame. In partnership with a soldier, Diego de Almagro, and a priest, Hernando de Luque, he made preparations for a voyage of discovery and conquest down the west coast of South America

An agreement made by the Allies at the Potsdam Conference was the promise made by Stalin to the Soviet Union to declare the war against the Japan. Thus, option A is correct.

What were the outcomes of the Potsdam Conference?

The Potsdam Conference resulted in German divides through reparations for each allied side's zones of occupation, as well as European country partitions between the US and the USSR. Stalin erected an Iron Curtain to keep Western incursions out after dividing the world between free and communist zones.

In addition to resolving issues concerning Germany and Poland, the Potsdam negotiators agreed to the creation of a Council of Ministerial Conference to prepare peace treaties with Germany's former allies on behalf of the United States. Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and China."

The Spartan way of life was, in the Peloponnesian War as in all wars before and after, their greatest advantage: absolute loyalty to their autocratic kings coupled with a nearly undefeatable army gave the Spartans staying power that the Athenians, subject to the whims of the civilian population, could never match. Spartiates were the best soldiers and did not have to be paid wages. Disadvantages of the military society: Surrounded by hostile city-states. Unhealthy babies were left to die.

Throughout the history of the United States, conflicts have erupted between Native Americans and the U.S. government. The Plains Wars were one of the deadliest confrontations between the two groups.

The Plains Wars was a group of conflicts between Native Americans and the U.S. Army. These conflicts took place from the early 1850s to the late 1870s. The two sides were fighting over control of the Great Plains, the area that lies between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River.

In the early 1800s, American settlers mainly lived in the eastern areas of the country. But when gold was discovered in California, large numbers of settlers moved west. Many Native American tribes resented these travelling settlers. They worried that the settlers would threaten their resources, including animals, grass, and timber.

The Plains Wars occurred when American settlers began to migrate westward. The westward expansion was good for the growth and prosperity of the United States. However, many different Plains tribes were harmed by this expansion, and they fought back. The U.S. Army was used to protect settlers moving west. The Plains Wars focused on the travel routes that the settlers used. The army wanted to secure these routes from possible attacks by Native Americans.

The first major conflict broke out in Wyoming in 1854. It started with a dispute over a killed cow. The dispute broke out between American settlers and the Lakota tribe of Native Americans. A U.S. Army lieutenant set out to settle the conflict. He took with him 30 soldiers and two cannons. The army opened fire on the Lakota tribe. In response, the Lakota tribe killed the entire army of soldiers. This conflict set off many other conflicts across the Plains.

The next year, conflicts spread south. In 1856, Colonel Edwin Sumner led a group of U.S. Army soldiers into a battle with the Cheyenne in Kansas. When the army started fighting with swords, the Cheyenne—who had no experience dealing with these blades—fled the battle. This started a time of relative peace in this part of the Plains.

But battles between the U.S. Army and other Native American tribes continued in other parts of the Plains. In Texas, Minnesota, and North Dakota, there were violent confrontations between both sides. The U.S. Army and the Native American tribes both became more aggressive.

In 1864, the conflicts escalated into a full-scale war. In Colorado, an army colonel named John Chivington took matters into his own hands. He wanted a victory over the Native Americans. He launched a massive attack on a village called Sand Creek. The village was home to a Native American tribe, and the attack killed almost 200 people. The Sand Creek Massacre intensified the conflict, and led to the declaration of war. This war spread throughout the Plains in 1865.

These conflicts continued for many years. Finally, the Red River War and the Great Sioux War in 1875 brought an end to the major warfare in the Plains. After these battles, a few hundred Native Americans fled into Canada. The remaining Plains tribes agreed to move onto reservations.

The Plains Wars are controversial in American history. They involved a high number of casualties. They also involved cultural divisions and discrimination. As a result of the wars, Native Americans were moved onto reservations. All of these things have had devastating effects on Native Americans. These problems continue to this day.

The blind was pulled down to within an inch of the sash so that I could not be seen. When she came out on the doorstep my heart leaped. I ran to the hall, seized my books and followed her. I kept her brown figure always in my eye and, when we came near the point at which our ways diverged, I quickened my pace and passed her. This happened morning after morning. I had never spoken to her, except for a few casual words, and yet her name was like a summons to all my foolish blood. Her image accompanied me even in places the most hostile to romance. On Saturday evenings when my aunt went marketing I had to go to carry some of the parcels. We walked through the flaring streets, jostled by drunken men and bargaining women, amid the curses of labourers, the shrill litanies of shop-boys who stood on guard by the barrels of pigs cheeks, the nasal chanting of street-singers, who sang a come-all-you about ODonovan Rossa, or a ballad about the troubles in our native land. These noises converged in a single sensation of life for me: I imagined that I bore my chalice safely through a throng of foes. Her name sprang to my lips at moments in strange prayers and praises which I myself did not understand. My eyes were often full of tears (I could not tell why) and at times a flood from my heart seemed to pour itself out into my bosom. I thought little of the future. I did not know whether I would ever speak to her or not or, if I spoke to her, how I could tell her of my confused adoration. But my body was like a harp and her words and gestures were like fingers running upon the wires. One evening I went into the back drawing-room in which the priest had died. It was a dark rainy evening and there was no sound in the house. Through one of the broken panes I heard the rain impinge upon the earth, the fine incessant needles of water playing in the sodden beds. Some distant lamp or lighted window gleamed below me. I was thankful that I could see so little. All my senses seemed to desire to veil themselves and, feeling that I was about to slip from them, I pressed the palms of my hands together until they trembled, murmuring: O love! O love! many times. At last she spoke to me. When she addressed the first words to me I was so confused that I did not know what to answer. She asked me was I going to Araby. I forgot whether I answered yes or no. It would be a splendid bazaar, she said she would love to go.And why cant you? I asked. While she spoke she turned a silver bracelet round and round her wrist. She could not go, she said, because there would be a retreat that week in her convent. Her brother and two other boys were fighting for their caps and I was alone at the railings. She held one of the spikes, bowing her head towards me. The light from the lamp opposite our door caught the white curve of her neck, lit up her hair that rested there and, falling, lit up the hand upon the railing. It fell over one side of her dress and caught the white border of a petticoat, just visible as she stood at ease. Its well for you, she said.If I go, I said, I will bring you something. What innumerable follies laid waste my waking and sleeping thoughts after that evening! I wished to annihilate the tedious intervening days. I chafed against the work of school. At night in my bedroom and by day in the classroom her image came between me and the page I strove to read. The syllables of the word Araby were called to me through the silence in which my soul luxuriated and cast an Eastern enchantment over me. I asked for leave to go to the bazaar on Saturday night. My aunt was surprised and hoped it was not some Freemason affair. I answered few questions in class. I watched my masters face pass from amiability to sternness; he hoped I was not beginning to idle. I could not call my wandering thoughts together.
