Which came first in china political or economic reform ?

Answers

Answer:

The reform and open-door policy of China began with the adoption of a new economic development strategy at the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCPCC) in late 1978. Under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping, who had returned to the political arena after his three previous defeats, the Chinese government began to pursue an open-door policy, in which it adopted a stance to achieve economic growth through the active introduction of foreign capital and technology while maintaining its commitment to socialism.

The obvious aim of this policy shift was to rebuild its economy and society that were devastated by the Cultural Revolution. The policy shift also appears to have been prompted by recognition that the incomes of ordinary Chinese were so low, in comparison with incomes in other Asian economies, that the future of the Chinese state and the communist regime would be in jeopardy unless something was done to raise living standards of its people through economic growth.

The government subsequently established a number of areas for foreign investment, including the special economic zones, open coastal cities, the economic and technology development zones, the delta open zones, the peninsula open zones, the open border citiees, and the high-tech industry development zones. The establishment of these zones provided the trigger for massive inflows of foreign investment, primarily from companies in Hong Kong and Taiwan. At the same time, China promoted its socialist market economy concept. The changes brought an entrepreneurial boom that resulted in the emergence of huge numbers of entrepreneurs and venture businesses within China.

Please discuss the Japanese internment and the balance between civil rights and national security

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

Born from the wartime hysteria of World War II, the internment of Japanese Americans is considered by many to be one of the biggest civil rights violations in American history. Americans of Japanese ancestry, regardless of citizenship, were forced from their homes and into relocation centers known as internment camps. The fear that arose after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor created severe anti-Japanese prejudice, which evolved into the widespread belief that Japanese people in America were a threat to national security. On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, giving the government the power to begin relocation.

Executive Order 9066 placed power in the hands of a newly formed War Relocation Authority, the WRA. This government agency was tasked with moving all Japanese Americans into internment camps all across the United States. The War Relocation Authority Collection(link is external) is filled with private reports explaining the importance of relocation and documenting the populations of different camps. WRA Report No. 5 on Community Analysis prepares the reader for the different ways and reasons for which the "evacuees" might try to resist, and how to handle these situations.

This order of internment was met with resistance. There were Japanese Americans who refused to move, allowing themselves to be tried and imprisoned with the goal of overturning Executive Order 9066 in court. The Japanese American Internment Camp Materials Collection(link is external) showcases the trials of Gordon Hirabayashi and Minoru Yasui, two men who had violated the relocation order. In the case of Japanese-American Gordon Hirabayashi, an entire defense committee was created to garner funding and defend him in court. The case made it all the way to the Supreme Court, where the President's orders were declared constitutional and Hirabayashi was pronounced guilty. Minoru Yasui v. The United States met the same fate, with the justification that Yasui had renounced his rights as a citizen when he disobeyed the orders of the state.

While many fought this Order in the court system, non-Japanese Americans found other ways to voice their dissent. Church Groups provided boxed lunches for Japanese people as they left for internment camps, but even this simple act of charity was met with contempt. Letters and postcards from the Reverend Wendell L. Miller Collection(link is external) admonished one group of churchwomen, exclaiming that they were traitors for helping "the heathen" rather than the American soldiers fighting for their country. >

Which of the following events led to the beginning of the modern era?

Answers

Answer:

The Industrial revolution is what many consider to be what began the modern era of most European societies, but few people agree on an exact date when that revolution became manifest. Some connect that loosely with the revolutionary scientific discovery of Antoine Lavoisier in France, which proved, among other things, that alchemy was an impossibility. Others point to events around the American revolution, or the "Glorious Revolution" in England.

Still other opinions say that we only became truly modern with the advent of the atomic age or even the space age in the 1950s and '60s. In artistic terms, the end of World War 1 is used in western art and music as the general point after which artists are referred to as modern. In religious terms, however, opinions for the most part go much further than that. Modern Rabbinic Judaism, for example, usually refers to the development of the religion since the compilation of the Talmud, around the 6th Century CE.

In paleontological terms, "modern" could refer to the period of recorded history (up to about five or six thousand years ago), or up to the earliest specimen of Homo sapiens being found in Africa and the Fertile Crescent (up to 100,000 years agoor more).

As soon as anyone uses the kunai, he or she has exactly 8 weeks left to live. The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look distorted. A marked person feels like a burning fire to touch. Kurisu gets hold of the kunai, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a bloody mask balancing on a assassin's face, an old newspaper headline about a gang accident, a hooded man ranting about bodys and a drinking well located in a hidden location in the woods. When Kurisu notices his arms have fire-like properties, he realizes that the curse of the golden kunai is true and calls in his friend, a nurse called Alex, to help. Alex examines the kunai and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before her eyes. She finds the bloody mask balancing on an assassin's face particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death. Kurisu and Alex pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded man. A few years later, Kurisu walked over to the window and reflected on his dark surroundings. He had survived the curse and was now living in the forest next to the well. He had figured his friend Alex burned up in flames as he didnt see her make it to drink from the well in time. Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Alex. Kurisu gulped. He was not prepared for Alex. As Kurisu stepped outside and Alex came closer, he could see the easy glint in her eye. "I am here because I want you dead," Alex bellowed, in a giving tone. You left me to die out there she showed him a burn across her arms. This is what that curse did to me She slammed her fist against Kurisu's chest, with the force of 10 bulls. "But it made me stronger, Kurisu." Kurisu looked back, even more shocked and still holding the gold kunai. "Alex, I don't want to hurt you," he replied. They looked at each other with mixed feelings. While classical music played in the background, two angry and confused people were standing in the rain. Kurisu regarded Alex's skinny limbs and burnt body. He held out his hand. "Let's not fight," he whispered, gently. "Hmph," pondered Alex. "Please?" begged Kurisu I never meant to hurt you. He showed her that he had a scar across his face from the golden blade.
