battle of salamis summary

Answers

Answer 1
After the Persian victories at Artemisium and Thermopylae, king Xerxes proceeded to Athens, which he captured in the last days of September 480. Meanwhile, the Greek navy, which had managed to get away from Artemisium, stayed on the isle of Salamis, opposite Athens. The presence of the enemy close to Phaleron, the Athenian harbor, created a strategic problem for the Persians: they could not use their port as easy as they wanted. And this was something they had to, because their army was proceeding to the Isthmus of Corinth, and it was imperative that the transport ships, brimful with food, could join the soldiers on the Isthmus. It was, therefore, imperative to expel the Greeks from Salamis.

In your opinion how has the Trump administration improved the country for better and for worse? Give a list of examples of what sets this man apart from pasts Presidents. Feel free to be biased.

Answers

Answer:

I believe the Trump administration has worsened the country.

Explanation:

This new political era/decade has been way different from past elections. Starting in 2016, we had a woman candidate (Hillary Clinton) and a wealthy businessman that had no experience in politics (Donald Trump).

Since then, we've seen over and over again with Trump making the wrong decisions. Here's a couple listed out:

1. Trade war with China.

Kind of a bad idea. We owe almost 40% of US debt to China, and China is the world's leading manufacture of products. The trade war affected Americans in products, investments, and somewhat in jobs.

2. Sending arms to Saudi Arabia.

To keep up "good relations" with one of the largest oil producers, we've seen Trump sell them millions of dollars of US weaponry to the Middle East. This fuels wars and tension in the already-strained area of the Middles East. Also, what need do we need to depend on Saudi Arabia for oil anymore? The US produces a ton of oil now too.

3. Coronavirus

Trump believes to save American businesses people must keep working in "safe" conditions even when the pandemic is occurring. What's the result? US being one of the only countries that still have rising Coronavirus cases. Even his plan didn't work, as the Stock Market prices were so low that we nearly had another Great Depression. He was only lucky that we got an economic recession.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

At the time it was written, this clause originally applied to

Answers

Answer:

because then the Bill of Rights would cover both state and federal law

Explanation:

In United States law, the Establishment Clause[1] of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, together with that Amendment's Free Exercise Clause, form the constitutional right of freedom of religion. The relevant constitutional text is:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

The Establishment Clause acts as a double security, for its aim is as well the prevention of religious control over government as the prevention of political control over religion.[2] Under it the federal government of the United States as well as the governments of all U.S. states and U.S. territories are prohibited from establishing or sponsoring religion.[2]

The clause was based on a number of precedents, including the Constitutions of Clarendon, the Bill of Rights 1689, and the Pennsylvania and New Jersey colonial constitutions. An initial draft by John Dickinson was prepared in conjunction with his drafting the Articles of Confederation. In 1789, then-congressman James Madison prepared another draft which, following discussion and debate in the First Congress, would become part of the text of the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. The second half of the Establishment Clause includes the Free Exercise Clause, which allows individual citizens freedom from governmental interference in both private and public religious affairs.

Can someone please help me answer the questions for the passage? I will mark the brainliest answer!!!! STORIES OF USEFUL INVENTIONS, excerptBy S. E. Forman1911THE MATCHThere never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by natureby a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble. In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar. What is the main idea of this text? Firebrands were hard to keep lit. Nature provided fire to early humans. The history of the match is interesting. The match made life easier for humans. One reason why most fossilized animals have incomplete remains is that parts like the: skin were not preserved teeth were not preserved shells were not preserved Which of these scientists had the greatest contribution to early microscopy?A.)They all made discoveries using optical telescopes.B.)They invented optical microscopes and telescopes so they could make discoveries.C.)They all made discoveries based using instruments that optical technology.D.)They all made discoveries using optical microscopes. 1.
